Hemmings Sports and Exotic at Saratoga

Last Saturday's Hemmings Sports and Exotic show at the Saratoga Automobile Museum was, much like the BMW Vintage show at the same venue two weeks prior, blistering hot. That, combined with the fact that I needed to borrow a Legacy with a thoroughly broken exhaust system (for this, I apologize to a certain BMW 2002 driver who had to follow me most of the way home) made the enjoyable nature of the event all the more impressive. Vehicles ranging from a Series I Jaguar E-Type Roadster to a 2012 BMW 1M were present. Check out the video below for a taste of the vehicles present, and keep an eye out for some cars, such as the pristine 300SL Mercedes and an E12 with the perfect red-and-gold color combination, making a repeat appearance in HittingRedline's videos.

Enjoy the video, and stay tuned for more (plus a brief gallery from this show) in the future.

Ferrari Challenge: The Gallery

The 2012 Ferrari Challenge at Lime Rock Park was a fantastic event that was great for filming. There were a ton of vehicles, some of which didn't hail from Modena, that were present and worthy of filming, but sadly, there was not time. Hopefully a few more of them will get some attention with this photos, taken alongside the video around the Lime Rock track last weekend, such as more FFs, some of the Challenge cars, an FR-S from the parking lot, more Challenge cars, and a 360 Challenge Stradale. Enjoy, and look forward to more stuff in the near future. Oh, and don't forget to click on the images to open a desktop-size version.

Lime Rock Park: Ferrari Challenge 2012

Between the car show infused rush of the summer and the fireside planning of winter, it's hard to believe an entire year has passed since I hit the upload button on the 2011 Ferrari Challenge video, the first of HittingRedline's videos. It achieved surprising success (a post to Jalopnik.com), and encouraged me to put more effort into the film side of this site. But although much has changed in the year since the first Ferrari Challenge video, I made it back to film again. Read more...

BMW Vintage at Saratoga

The Saratoga Automobile Museum is a place any New England car enthusiast should visit. But like their top quality exhibits (which earlier this year included one-off, race winning, or legendary Porsche models from private collections around the world), Saratoga's lawn show series also brings out the rarest of the rare. Last Saturday's BMW Vintage show was a classic example, featuring a real E9 CSL, seven Baur 3-series cars, an imported Z1, a beautiful and period-correct E12 (with every item correct for the year down to the Blaupunkt equalizer), and an amazing 1600GT. And seeing as it was for classic Bimmers only, the parking lot beside the museum included a brand new 1 Series M Coupe, a Ferrari 360 Modena, a 993 Porsche Turbo, a BMW 850i, and an E92 M3 - all ineligible for display. But despite the 90-degree heat and dripping humidity, it was a great show at a great location.

Check out the video below, and look forward to more videos over the next week.

Real Drivers: EG Honda Civic (B20-powered)

The Honda Civic is a car rife with controversy. While many in the premium car world cast them off as vehicles for the "chrome wheels and big bumpers" crowd, cars from the '90s and '00s were extremely capable and well-designed in every respect, and the earliest '80s examples were incredibly innovative. But their light weight and high-revving Honda powerplants also make them fun to drive, and in Ian Wright's 1995 EG Hatchback, those qualities have been amplified to create a unique and fun car. Click here for more details about this car.

Hemmings Cruise In: June 28, 2012

Like all Hemmings Cruise-Ins, this one showcased a largely different set of cars from previous shows, including (in this case) a hard-to-find BMW 850CSi, the often-featured-on-this-site BMW M635CSi, a 1998 Indy Pace Car Corvette with the rare manual option, a front-engined, V8-powered Corvair, and a fantastic ex-racer Thunderbird, among others. The packed meet also created an opportunity - as always - to meet some enthusiastic owners and hear the stories behind these so many of these vehicles.

Enjoy the video, and keep an eye out for Real Drivers releases in the near future.

Real Drivers: Single-Family Volvo 122 Amazon

Jonathan Bigelow's 1966 Volvo Amazon is a car that I had been eager to film since the fall of 2011, not only because you rarely see them, but because of the story behind it. This car has been imported from one country to another, travelling first from Sweden to Norway, and much later from Norway's capital to the United States. The stories of maintaining, imported, and enjoying this vintage car were fascinating, and although not all of them made the final cut, it was a great experience making this film. Enjoy, and look forward to more Real Drivers videos (probably with more driving) in the future.

Manchester Car Show: Video

The brief gallery I posted a couple days ago showcased just a few of the rare vehicles on display at last weekend's Antique and Classic Car show in Manchester, Vermont (an exhibition currently in its 26th year), and although this video doesn't do the 400-plus cars at the event justice, it certainly shows many more of them. Enjoy the video and stay tuned for more films over the coming weeks.

Manchester Car Show: Gallery

The show last weekend in Manchester, Vermont was a pleasure to attend for a number of reasons. While it opened overcast and closed at a high-for-Vermont 85 degrees, the show was set on the beautiful Dorr fields in a picturesque valley amid the Green Mountains, and ran 400 strong. Entrants ranged from a 1909 Cadillac to a modified Fiat 850 beach cruiser (complete with wicker interior), and from a Detroit Electric to a pair of BMW E9s. A walk through the spectator lot was just as varied; various classic Mustangs and MGs showed up, as well as - interestingly - a brand new Ferrari California and Mercedes SLS Roadster.

Here are just a few of the shots from the weekend. A video is on the way, and you will be able to see the rest of my shots on the Manchester Car Show website in a few days. Enjoy!

Hemmings Cruise In: Video

I first heard about the Cruise Ins hosted by Hemmings Motor News in Bennington, VT at the end of last year, and as a result only made it to two events. Between the lighting, the cars, and the friendly owners, those two Thursday nights in late September made an impression, so I made sure to go back this year. Cars from last week's show didn't disappoint, and included all manner of rare and exquisite cars, from fin-adorned Cadillacs to a German-market, AMG-tuned Mercedes-Benz R107. Check out the video below; you'll probably find your own favorites from the 100+ vehicles in attendance. These cruise-ins are held every other Thursday, so if you're in the area, be sure to check one out to share stories and enjoy great food.

Look forward to more Real Drivers videos in the next week.
